Medwin Poots

Medwin Poots is the founder of Medwin Poots Associates (MPA) and the developer of the WSA. He developed the WSA between 1989 - 1992 with the assistance of his clients and he has used the WSA extensively in his work ever since.

Medwin completed his BSc in Psychology at the University of Ulster followed by an MSc in Occupational Psychology from Hull University. His initial work experience involved developing psychometric tests to select helicopter pilots in the Armed Services after which he moved into Business Consultancy with PA Consultants and then into a line role with the Burton Group where he was Head of Management Development.

He founded MPA in 1990 and offered the full range of consultancy services in Occupational Psychology to Corporate clients in the UK, Europe, USA and Australia. From 1995 onwards, at the request of clients, he worked exclusively on assessing candidates for the most senior positions in Industry. He also focused on the UK market and worked with clients such as Barclays Bank, Coca–Cola Enterprises, Cadbury Schweppes, Virgin, WH Smith, Astra Zeneca, Glaxo Smithkline, Heidrick and Struggles as well as many smaller companies. His work involved the selection of many chief executives and main Board Directors of FTSE 100 companies advising on Board composition and team building.

In 2003 he stepped back from Consultancy work and is now the Chairman of MPA. Prior to his semi-retirement he was an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Chartered Occupational Psychologist.
